Six months is one of my favorite ages to photograph.
They’re happy, curious, and starting to show so much personality, but not quite on the move yet. It’s this really sweet in-between stage where everything feels calm and full at the same time.
This session was exactly that. Simple, soft, and focused on letting her just be.
Why 6 Months Is Such a Special Stage
At this age, babies are starting to sit (or almost there), making eye contact, smiling, and reacting to everything around them.
It’s one of the easiest stages to photograph and one of the most meaningful to look back on later.
You’re out of that newborn fog, but things still feel slow enough to take in.
And that’s what I always try to hold onto in these sessions.
What This Session Looked Like
We kept everything really simple.
A soft, neutral setup.
One outfit.
Nothing distracting.
The focus was on her expressions, her little movements, and those in-between moments that happen naturally when you give babies space to just be themselves.
Toward the end, we brought mom and dad in for a few images—those are almost always the ones families end up loving the most.
What to Expect from Your Own Session
If you’ve never done a milestone session before, you don’t need to worry about knowing what to do.
Everything is guided.
We move at your baby’s pace, with plenty of time for breaks if needed. There’s no rush, no pressure, and no expectation for your baby to “perform.”
Some of the best moments come from just letting things unfold naturally.
What to Wear (Simple is Best)
For sessions like this, simple always photographs best.
Soft neutrals, minimal patterns, and comfortable pieces that let your baby move easily.
I’m always happy to help guide you on what to wear, and I keep things very minimal in the studio so your images stay timeless.
A Few Favorites from This Session

This stage doesn’t last long.
It’s quiet, it’s simple, and it’s so easy to miss while you’re in it.
If your baby is around this age and you’ve been thinking about documenting it, this is one of those moments you’ll be so glad you didn’t skip.
If you’re looking for a Kansas City milestone photographer, I’d love to create something like this for you.
